Core values
At Vegas United we expect our players, parents, and coaches to live by our core values.
1. Have Fun.
Soccer is fun! Enjoy it! They say "mindset" is the single biggest factor that affects performance. When you are having fun, you play better.
2. Play with Passion.
Get excited when you score! Celebrate your wins, care when you lose, and learn from the losses. Love playing the game!
3. Be Fearless.
They say at the pro level the game is 90% mental. We believe that is true at the youth level. If you are scared to make a mistake you won't shoot. If you won't shoot, you won't score. Players that play with fear never reach their full potential.
4. Give an Effort you are Proud of.
Be the player at the end of practice that can look in the mirror and say, "I'm proud of how hard I worked today to improve myself and my team."
5. Be Respectful and Kind.
Be respectful and kind. If your coach is talking, you should be listening. If you see trash on the ground pick it up and throw it away. Respect your fields. If a new player shows up at your practice introduce yourself and ask them where they go to school. Make them feel included. Be kind. If a referee makes a bad call don't scream at the ref and call them names. Be respectful. If you see your coach carrying balls, bags, goals, and cones help carry some gear for them. Be kind. When your coach calls you in, jog don't walk. Be respectful. Win with grace and lose with class. It's hard sometimes but be respectful. No abusive language, profanity or violence.
6. Have a Quiet Confidence.
Confidence is powerful and it will take your game to the next level. Cockiness is arrogant and it will make you a target. Be humble and have a quiet confidence about your game. Let your play do the talking, not your mouth. Actions speak louder than words.
7. Be Positive, but Competitive.
Just because we encourage you to have fun when you play and be positive doesn't mean you can't compete. Yes, winning isn't everything, but when it's time to play, compete to win. Being positive and encouraging your teammates to play fearless is a competitive advantage to helping your team.
8. Commit to your Team.
Attend the majority of your practices, games, tournaments and team events. Arrive early, be ready to start on time. Be unselfish and strive to be the player that makes their teammates better. Exceed expectation.
9. Always Improve.
Whether you are in school or on the field, always be improving. Study more to make good grades. Practice more to earn more playing time. Small improvements daily equal big improvements over time. Be the player a coach can look at and say, "I'm so proud of how much you improved since the start of the season!"
10. Be a Family.
100% of our Vegas United coaches say "family" is what differentiates our club. Families don't always get along, but they should always love each other. Be patient with your team, communicate with your teammates and coach, thank your teammates and coach, appreciate your teammates and coach. Be a family.
